From idea to innovation: Euroheater shares his entrepreneurial journey

During Oslo Innovation Week, John I. Øglænd from Euroheater shared experiences from the company's entrepreneurial journey, with particular emphasis on the importance of good partners, perseverance and the ability to solve real challenges.

As part of the StartUp Festival in Lillestrøm, John presented Euroheater's development from an idea to heating and energy solutions for defense, emergency preparedness and humanitarian operations.

The lecture provided insight into what is required to build a business, the challenges along the way, and the value of bringing in outside expertise.

From a cold night in Iceland to international markets

The story of Euroheater started on a cold night in Iceland, with a simple but important need: reliable heat in extreme conditions.

Since its establishment in Norway in 2023, Euroheater has developed a range of mobile heating and energy solutions in close collaboration with industry partners. The products are designed and tested for use in demanding conditions.

Today, Euroheater's products are sold internationally through a growing distribution network, demonstrating how an idea can be developed into a business with international reach.

Innovation through collaboration

One of the main messages from John's talk was that entrepreneurs don't have to succeed alone. Building a good network and seeking advice from people with relevant experience can make a big difference.

When Euroheater needed a reliable power source for its heating systems, the company partnered with Altilium. The collaboration led to the development of Flexibatt, a flexible battery solution with applications beyond heating, including in vehicles, drones and other field equipment.

For Euroheater, collaboration has been crucial in transforming challenges into new opportunities.

Four lessons from the entrepreneurial journey

Drawing on Euroheater's development, John shared four important lessons from the company's entrepreneurial journey.

  1. Start with a real problem.
The best ideas often arise from actual needs and challenges in the field.
  2. Be patient and don't give up.
Product development, testing and approvals take time. Perseverance is essential.
  3. Choose the people around you carefully.
Surround yourself with experienced people who add the right knowledge, expertise and new perspectives.
  4. Let demanding customers help shape the solutions.
Collaboration with users operating under challenging conditions helps develop better and more reliable products.

These experiences reflect Euroheater's approach to innovation, where real needs, technical expertise and continuous development are central.

Euroheater continues to grow, but the ambition remains the same: to develop reliable and functional solutions for people working in demanding conditions.
